
The city of Valladolid is located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, in the centre of the North Plateau, what shows a typical landscape, plain, flat and with scarce vegetation. The coordinates of the city are 41° 38' N 4° 43' O and the average height on the sea level is 698 metres .
It has a population of 316.564 inhabitants, according to the data of the last census, which converts it into the 13th biggest city of Spain . The metropolitan area of the city has a population of about 400.000 inhabitants. In Valladolid you can find the headquarters of the Courts of the autonomous community of Castilla y Leon.
It preserves in its old town an interesting historical ensemble , composed by houses , palaces, churches, squares , avenues and parks, together with an important museum patrimony. Among the cultural events that are celebrated in the city it is remarkable Easter and the International Week of Cinema ( SEMINCI ) and the International Theatre Festival Outside.
